Use this search box to search for books or journal titles, or "More Search Options" to go directly to the Library homepage. Subjects and keywords can be searched to find topical information in print or e-books; for example: Topology and Mathematics are both subject headings; a cataloger uses the narrowest subject headings available to describes the content of a work. The classification, or call number, relates to the subject as well.
Mathematics -- Study and teaching is the subject heading and subdivision for materials about mathematics education.
Review of catalog searching:
In the catalog, a subject search for "Mandelbrot" will retrieve records for biographies about Benoit Mandelbrot (the mathematician) and works about Mandelbrot Sets. An author search for Mandelbrot will mostly retrieve books written or edited by Mandelbrot. These are relatively precise searches. A keyword search will fetch all of these records, and more -- but not articles. The Library Catalog does not retrieve articles.
If you seek individual journal articles, click on the "Find Articles" tab or "Literature Reviews" tabs for links to databases that will allow you to search for articles on a particular topic.
Most mathematics books are classified in the QA call number range.
Remember, some books are available only online as e-books, and hard copies won't be on the shelves.
