Part 2

A. Identify keywords that will help you find information about your organism.

B. Do you expect to find a lot of articles? Why or why not?

Part 3

Search PubMed to find articles. Consider the following as you search.

  • Does your article give a broad overview of the organism?
  • Is it a literature review or a piece of original research? How can you tell?
  • Do you have an article that highlights unusual features of the organism?

  • Do you have an article that discusses the discovery of the organism?

Part 4

Look for articles related to your organism.

Brainstorm keywords that will help you find the articles you need.

Choose filters to narrow your search.

Evaluate the articles you find based on the criteria discussed in Part 3. If you don't have what you need look again for new articles.

Use the skills you learned in the "How to Read a Scholarly Article Video" to read one article and begin taking notes.
