In-Text or Parenthetical Citations

  1. When viewing your references, look at the right-hand side of the brief citation at the icons displayed. Click the Cite icon, that looks like two empty brackets:  { }
  2. A pop-up window will appear with a citation placeholder: {{109 Greene, Andy 2007}}
  3. Copy and paste the citation placeholder where you want the in-text citation to appear in your document.
  4. IMPORTANT! Save your paper with these placeholders, including the double brackets.
  5. After you have entered all the placeholders into your paper and saved your document a final time, close your document. 
  6. Click on CREATE BIBLIOGRAPHY button or use the Bibliography menu.
  7. Choose your Output Style, and then select "Bibliography" tab.
  8. Select “Format Document.”
  9. Browse for your document and upload the file.
  10. A final version of your paper is created. The placeholders and your bibliography are formatted in the style you chose.
  11. To the right, and on the bottom is a little message box that says “completed.”  Select “click here” to open the formatted paper.
  12. Proofread and save your paper.

Write-N-Cite allows you to cite references in your manuscript while on your word processor.
