POLT 504: American Presidency

Presidential Libraries and Museums of the National Archives

As described by the National Archives, "Presidential Libraries are archives and museums, bringing together the documents and artifacts of a President and his administration and presenting them to the public for study and discussion without regard for political considerations or affiliations."

Digital Collections at the Presdiential Libraries

The archival collections at the various Presidential Libraries typically contain textual and audiovisual (photos, video, and audio recordings) collections.

While some of these archival materials have been digitized for online access, significant portions remain available only to researchers visiting the libraries.
