For further information on finding print books see the directions here.

If UNH Library does not own the material, you can request it from another library by going here.

General search hints:

  • To find books on a topic, do a keyword search. In your results, look for other keywords or subject terms that may also be relevant for your topic.
  • If your subject doesn't work, try a broader subject.
  • You can change the search to title when looking for a specific item
  • You can change the search to author when looking for books by a person or organization; for a person, enter last name first, then first name
  • You can find additional ways to refine or narrow your search under Advanced Search

Library's Borrowing Policy

Library borrowing policies including who can borrow, circulation periods, renewing and requesting materials, fines and fees, and museum passes can be found here.

Generally:

  • The borrowing period for most non-reserve books is 4 weeks.
  • UNH graduate students and faculty borrow most books on extended time; books are due April of each year.
  • All books borrowed through the Boston Library Consortium (BLC Worldcat) are checked out for 4 weeks.
  • Unless recalled, most books have a 10-day grace period from the due date.

Recalled books  If an item checked out to you is needed by another patron, it will be "recalled":

  • You will be given a new due date for the item.
  • There is no grace period on this new due date.
  • The new due date is usually 10 days from the date of the email.
  • If you don't return the item by the new due date, your library privileges will be temporarily suspended and you will receive a $10 fine.
  • When you return the item we will reinstate your privileges.
  • This rule applies to all borrowers, and we greatly appreciate your cooperation with this important policy.
