Partners in Information Literacy: The Research Mentor Program at UNH Manchester: Training the Research Mentors

Creating Knowledge VIII: Reykjavik, June 2016

Research Mentors Reflect on the Training

  • “As a mentor, I can help students to look at information critically to see if it is appropriate by assessing the author, the source, and the information. The frameworks we received were very helpful in my understanding of research.”
  • “I had never heard the term ‘information literacy’ before attending this class. It makes sense, however, to gauge their understanding of scholarly discourse…and the importance of context. I thought the frameworks were quite helpful in this regard.”
  • “I believe looking at the frameworks was a big help because it introduced many views and topics that I had not thought of before. Now I can use these discussions to help guide students in their own skills. I can bring up the same topics and insights that we used in T.D. and inform students.”
