Wikipedia is consistently one of the most heavily used reference websites in the world. It is important as a freely available information source, but it is not without problems, including gaps in representation, largely due to systemic bias. When you edit Wikipedia can choose to help make the internet a more inclusive, representative, and equitable place for all people.
In February of 2024, we're hosting an editing campaign for Black History Month with a goal to improve coverage of Black histories on Wikipedia. We'll hold a kickoff and training on Thursday, February 15 and will hold several drop-in group editing sessions throughout the month.
You can come with ideas of pages you'd like to edit and we'll provide suggestions as well. The 2024 theme for Black History Month is African Americans and the Arts.
