First Generation Student Resources

Welcome

Congratulations on being the trailblazer in your family to pursue a college education! Being the first in your family to attend college can bring questions, but there are many people here at UNH ready to help you succeed. This guide includes some of the core offices and departments across UNH with support for First Generation Students. There are links to many types of resources including academic, self care, financial aid, and student organizations here at UNH and throughout the local area as well.

If you have suggested resources that we should add, be sure to send us an email and let us know.

First Generation College Celebration Day

About the First Generation College Celebration

The First-Generation College Celebration (FGCC) is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about the first-generation college student identity. It seeks to promote a positive, asset-based national narrative regarding the experiences and outcomes of first-generation students.

Since it was started in November 2017 by the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) and the Center for First-generation Student Success, numerous higher education institutions, corporations, non-profits, and K-12 schools have participated. Together, they recognize and honor the accomplishments of the first-generation college community in activities held annually on November 8.
