The UNH Library collection is classified by the Library of Congress Classification System (LC). For browsing purposes, the best thing to keep in mind is that the LC system allows for books to be shelved together BY SUBJECT. So, all you really need in order to begin your search is to know the subject you're looking for. This will lead you to a general area within our stacks. Browse this general area.
If the call number starts with: These books will be about:
Q General Science
To browse your topic, simply search for the subject in the UNH Library Catalog. Choose any of the items in your results list and locate the call number. Head for this general area to browse books on this subject.
Can't find what you're looking for? Your first step should be to check in with the assistant on duty at the service desk. We'll help you retrieve what you're looking for. We may use services like the Boston Library Consortium Virtual Catalog or use InterLibrary Loan.
Without VPN, you may still access library resources from off-campus. To do this, you must find the resource in the UNH Library Catalog, Database List and/or Fulltext Journal List. When you go to the record for the resource and click on the UNH Library link for it, you will be prompted to put in your IT ID. You should then be connected to that resource.
The UNH Connect VPN also provides excellent access; it makes any link to resources provided by the UNH Library accessible through your computer. For example, if you click on a link in email or in Google, and the Library provides it, you can go straight to it.
