Avoiding Plagiarism

What is plagiarism?*

  • Plagiarism is using or submitting intellectual property, ideas, or evidence produced by another person without giving credit to that person.
  • Please note:
    • That person may be AI.
    • That person may be you (yes, you can accidentally plagiarize yourself!).

Avoid plagiarism! When using someone else's work, remember to:

  • Clearly indicate and cite when you are summarizing, paraphrasing, or quoting another person's work.
  • Give credit to the original author (or yourself, or AI) by citing their work - both in text and in your reference list.

*(Paraphrased from the UNH Code of Academic Integrity)

APA Style Resources

Styles and Databases

Some library databases allow you to get bibliographic information in selected styles such as APA when emailing and saving records.

Always double check citations produced electronically to make sure they are in correct APA style. No citation generator is infallible.
