Using DMPTool to Create Data Management Plans

DMPTool

You can sign into DMPTool.org with your UNH username and password. The DMPTool is a free, open-source, online application that helps researchers created data management plans (DMPs).

Through DMPTool, you can access data management plan templates for most funding agencies. By signing in with your UNH login, you will be able to access UNH-specific guidance.

Signing into DMPTool

On the DMPTool home page enter your UNH email in the Sign in / Sign up box and click Continue.
Your email address will be recognized as associated with UNH. Click Sign up with Institution (SSO)
This will prompt you to create a new account. Enter your First and Last Name, read and accept the terms and conditions and click Sign Up
- If you have an account using a different email address - log in using that email and then connect to UNH through Edit profile.
Next time you log in to your DMPTool account, use your UNH email and password.

The tool provides a click-through wizard for creating a DMP that complies with funder requirements. It also has direct links to funder websites, help text for answering questions, and data management best practices resources.
Example Public DMPs
Public DMPs are plans created using the DMPTool service and shared publicly by their owners. They are not vetted for quality, completeness, or adherence to funder guidelines.
Templates for Funder Requirements
Templates for data management plans are based on the specific requirements listed in funder policy documents. The DMPTool maintains these templates, however, researchers should always consult the program officers and policy documents directly for authoritative guidance.
