Data Management Toolkit @ UNH

This guide provides information on effectively managing research data and developing data management plans.

ROR IDs @ UNH

ROR provides unique IDs for research organizations, making it easier to identify institutional affiliations. ROR is supported by platforms like Crossref, DataCite, and ORCID. You can find ROR IDs at ror.org. Here are some associated with UNH:

How researchers use ROR IDs

While you might not use RORs directly every day in your research, they help track, credit, and connect your work to your institution behind the scenes. This improves discoverability and ensures your research contributions are properly attributed.

Here’s how RORs show up in your research:

  • Institutional affiliations. When submitting manuscripts, sharing datasets, or applying for grants, your institution is often linked using a ROR ID for consistency and accuracy.
  • Connecting research to institutions. RORs link your publications, datasets, and other research outputs to your institution, improving visibility and contributing to institutional metrics.
  • Repository metadata. Data repository platforms (like Zenodo, Dryad, or Figshare) use RORs to correctly associate shared data with your organization.
  • Open infrastructure. ROR supports a more open, interoperable research ecosystem.
  • Grant and impact reporting. Funders and institutions use RORs to track where funded research happens, improving tracking of research impact and reducing reporting burdens.
