UNH Library Course Reserve Policy

Course reserves are materials that a professor makes available to a class for limited circulation periods. The following policies govern materials placed on reserve at any UNH Library:

  • Only those instructing active courses may place items on reserve.
  • Requests to change reserve offerings must come from the course instructor.
  • Course Reserve loan periods are between 2 hours and 7 days, chosen by the course instructor. Options available differ by location.
  • Up to 2 items at a time may be borrowed from Reserves.
  • Most reserve items are not renewable.
  • Overdue fines for hourly reserve items are $1 per hour. Day-long reserves are fined at $5 per day.
  • Reserve material must be returned to the desk from which it was borrowed.
  • Proper photo identification (such as a UNH ID) is required to borrow course reserves.
  • Books, CDs, DVDs, hardware, software and most class material may be placed on reserve. Student papers may only be placed on reserve with permission of the student. Course packets produced for the current semester may be placed on reserve.
  • Personal copies may be placed on reserve at the risk of the instructor.

For more information on Course Reserves, see our Course Reserves guide.

The Library's Program Lead for Materials Management is responsible for monitoring and updating this policy as needed. Questions about this policy can be sent to ask@unh.libanswers.com.
